Human
diversity encompasses the broad spectrum of differences found among
individuals, including but not limited to race, culture, gender, and physical
or mental abilities. Among these differences, disability is a key area that has
long been marginalized and misunderstood. Despite legal protections and social
advances, individuals with disabilities continue to face significant barriers
in society. A major barrier is attitudinal — the negative stereotypes,
misconceptions, and prejudices people hold toward individuals with
disabilities. This training was sought to overcoming these attitudinal barriers
is critical to fostering an inclusive, equitable society where persons with
disabilities can fully participate in all aspects of life.
B-SCAN organized this Orientation by the support of Participatory Grants Making of ADD International on 19 March 2025 at the B-SCAN Training Room of Banasree, Dhaka. The objective of the orientation was to raise awareness and promote understanding of the attitudinal barriers that individuals with disabilities faces in society. As well as to aware participants to be equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to challenge attitudinal barriers, reduce stigma, and contribute to building a more inclusive and respectful society for individuals with disabilities.
