B-SCAN actively participated in the month-long Amar Ekushey Book Fair, organized in celebration of International Mother Language Day on February 21. This prestigious event, held annually at the Bangla Academy premises and Sohrawardi Udyan in Dhaka, is the largest and most significant literary festival in Bangladesh.
The fair, a symbol of cultural pride and linguistic heritage, attracts thousands of visitors, including authors, publishers, researchers, students, and book lovers from across the country. It serves as a platform for the promotion of Bangla literature, education, and inclusivity, making it an ideal venue for B-SCAN to engage with the public and raise awareness about the rights of persons with disability.
During the fair, B-SCAN set up a dedicated stall where visitors could learn about the organization's mission and the importance of inclusive policies for persons with disabilities. The participation also allowed B-SCAN to showcase its published materials, including Braille books for individuals with visual and other disabilities.
Additionally, the event provided an opportunity to network with publishers, educators to promote the need for barrier-free learning environments and inclusive publishing practices. B-SCAN’s engagement in such a prominent cultural event reinforces its commitment to fostering a society where every individual, regardless of ability, can access knowledge, literature and opportunities for personal growth.
